Is My Occupation High-Wage for Express Entry?

From November 3, 2026 IRCC awards CRS points for a job offer or Canadian work experience in a high-wage occupation. Type your NOC code or job title to see whether it is on IRCC’s list of 186 occupations, which of the three levels it sits in, and what that earns. Not sure of your code? Find your NOC and TEER first.

Searches the 186 occupations on IRCC’s list. The level depends on the occupation’s median wage in Canada, not on your own salary.

What each level earns

You get whichever of the two routes scores more. IRCC does not add a job offer to work experience. The most the factor can reach is 150 points, or 140 with an accompanying spouse or partner.

Occupation’s median wageQualifying job offer12+ months of Canadian work
at least twice the Canadian median wage100 points+70 on top of the duration points (up to 80)
at least 1.5 times the Canadian median wage70 points+40 on top of the duration points (up to 80)
at least 1.3 times the Canadian median wage50 points+20 on top of the duration points (up to 80)

The job offer must be for full-time, continuous work in Canada for at least one year after you become a permanent resident. No LMIA is needed from November 3. Candidates already in the pool have their work experience recalculated automatically; a job offer only counts if it is in the profile before November 3.

Questions people ask

What is a high-wage occupation for Express Entry?

IRCC counts a job as high-wage when the median wage of everyone in Canada doing that job, by NOC, is at least 1.3 times the median wage of the whole Canadian workforce. It is about the occupation, not your own pay. Earning more than the median in a job that is not on the list does not make it high-wage.

What do the three levels earn?

From November 3, 2026 a qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation earns 100 CRS points at twice the median wage, 70 at 1.5 times and 50 at 1.3 times. Canadian work experience of at least 12 months in a high-wage occupation earns a bonus of 70, 40 or 20 on top of the usual duration points, up to 150 in total. IRCC gives you whichever route scores more and does not add them together.

How is the list built, and can it change?

IRCC uses wage data from the Job Bank, the Labour Force Survey and the Census for the last three years, currently 2023 to 2025, and places each NOC in the highest level its median wage met in any of those years. If the list changes after you are invited to apply, IRCC keeps the level that applied on your invitation date.

Do I need an LMIA for the job offer points?

No. From November 3, 2026 an LMIA is not required for a job offer to earn the new points, or to meet the job offer requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades programs. IRCC officers assess whether the offer is genuine instead. The offer must still be for full-time, continuous work in Canada for at least one year after you become a permanent resident.

My occupation is not on the list. What changes for me?

Nothing from this factor. Canadian work experience keeps earning the duration points it earns today, and a valid job offer still counts for Federal Skilled Worker points and Federal Skilled Trades eligibility. Your CRS score stays where it is while candidates in high-wage occupations gain points, so the cutoff in the rounds you fit may move.

Not sure which NOC your job is?

The level depends on the NOC that matches your duties, not your job title. A licensed RCIC can confirm the NOC, whether the offer qualifies, and what your profile should show before November 3.
